A data complaint is different from an editorial disagreement or a general service complaint. It concerns the collection, use, accuracy, security, sharing, retention or rights handling of personal data. Where a concern crosses more than one area, we will coordinate the response rather than ask the complainant to restart it.
Email your concern and the outcome you are seeking.
Use the subject “Data protection complaint”. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information.

What happens next
- Acknowledgement. We will acknowledge receipt within 30 days. Where identity or scope must be clarified, we will explain what is required.
- Investigation. A person with appropriate independence from the original action will review the purpose, lawful basis, source, accuracy, disclosure, security and relevant records.
- Interim protection. Where appropriate, disputed use may be restricted while the matter is examined, particularly if accuracy, direct marketing or an unauthorised disclosure is in question.
- Outcome. We will communicate the outcome without undue delay, explain the evidence considered and identify any correction, restriction, deletion, suppression, process change or reason no further action is taken.
- Record and learning. The complaint, decision and remedial action are recorded to support accountability and prevent recurrence.
Direct marketing and urgent security concerns
An objection to direct marketing is actioned as a suppression request and does not wait for the wider complaint investigation. If you believe personal data is actively exposed or account security is at immediate risk, state “Urgent data security concern” in the email subject so it can be triaged promptly.
Escalation to the ICO
You have the right to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office. You do not have to wait for our process if you do not wish to, although giving us an opportunity to investigate may allow the issue to be resolved more quickly.

No disadvantage for raising a concern
A person will not be denied access to public content or treated adversely merely because they exercise a data protection right or make a complaint. Information about a complaint is shared only where necessary to investigate, comply with law, obtain advice or implement the outcome.
